Oregon Painted Hills - Paint by Numbers Kit

Layers of rust red, ochre, cream, and deep maroon stack like sediment across these iconic mounds, the striped slopes of Oregon's Painted Hills glowing under a warm late-afternoon sun. This is the John Day Fossil Beds at their most painterly, where each band of color marks a different chapter of geologic time, and a pale tan valley trail winds gently through the foreground toward a lone clump of sagebrush.

The design breaks those graduated stripes into large, legible sections on a pre-printed numbered canvas, so blending the transitions from cream highlight to deep maroon shadow feels intuitive rather than fussy. It's an ideal project for beginners easing into color mixing and for hobbyists who enjoy landscapes with rhythm and repetition, since the banded hills offer a satisfying, almost meditative painting pace.

Whether it's destined for a reading nook, a home office, or as a thoughtful gift for someone who loves the American West and its desert vistas, this scene rewards patience with a richly textured result. Pick up a brush and let the Painted Hills take shape, one warm stripe at a time.
